So can we? Can we save the Internet? That was the question that of Joey Kurtzman, editorial macher at Jewcy asked Wired founding editor Kevin Kelly and I to resolve. Jewcy is running my exchange with KK all this week. For anyone interested in the Web 2.0 debate -- on either side of the aisle -- this is provocative stuff.
I have to admit that debating KK was bloody hard work. While I don't agree with much of what he says (especially his faith in the immutable goodness of man), the guy is smart and relentless. It was his unshakable optimism that unnerved me. He's so damn cheerful (and polite), even while trashing me and my arguments.
Did KK and I figure out a way to save the Internet? You'll have to wait till the end of the week on that one. Each day this week, Jewcy is publishing another round of the KK/AK punch-up. So is the Internet a gigantic fraud or is it our salvation? By Friday all might be resolved.
